Stark Museum of Art
The Stark Museum of Art is located in Orange, Texas and is known for its definitive collective of American Western Art. If you love all things American West, you have got to visit the Stark Museum of Art. The term art in modern usage means visual arts composed of fine art, crafts, and decorative art. With arts, it involves specific artistic disciplines of various arts from visual arts, performing arts, culinary or language arts and more. The Stark Museum of Art was a vision of a young man, H.J. Lutcher Stark and his mother, Miriam Lutcher Stark. They both were collectors of art, furniture and decorative pieces from around the world. They were very fond of items that depicted the American West. They set out that one day they would open a musuem housing the art that they had collected over the years. Thus was born the Stark Museum of Art.
From Native American Art to Western influenced, the Stark has amazing collections. Visit them online and get a taste. What you can find in Stark Museum of Art is that all of their art collections are with taste from American West like Western Art, American Indian Art, Decorative Arts, paintings, sculpture, and prints from the 19th and 20th centuries depicting the stunning land, dramatic people, and diverse wildlife of the Southeast Texas. In addition to wonderful paintings from local artists, the Stark also has a vast collection of rare books and manuscripts including J.J. Audubon’s “The Birds of America” a true rarity. Rare editions of The Birds of America have fetched over $8 million in auction! Just this one book would be worth traveling far and wide to see. My favorite to see would be their collection of Frederic Remington bronzes.
