I stumbled across this site through Google. Though the activity seems low, it looks like a place that can bring new models - agencies and photographers together. Since this is my first post, let me thank the moderator, Manish.

I am based in Bangalore, and my bread and butter comes from a job that does not involve photography. And I like to keep it that way There is more fun when it is a hobby with a potential for extra income rather than a primary income source. I guess that is true with most hobbies.

I am building a portfolio with a variety of shots (including non fashion). Coming to the point, I am looking for models who are *serious* for a portfolio shoot. I don't want to work with someone with a feeling of 'oh there's a free photographer, so let me get some shots done'. The shoot will be in a professional studio with all required lighting, backdrop, props, UPS backup, etc. I am particular about the quality of the shoot, so no compromises here (unless you specifically want an outdoor shoot - which involves more logistics problem in executing it). I have access to a professional studio whose owner is a professional corporate photographer (he was earlier doing people shoots) and a good friend of mine. This brings us to the charges - I will not charge anything from my side, but the model will have to bear the discounted studio hire charge (which will be significantly lesser than other fully equipped studios because the owner is a personal friend). Studios charge upwards of Rs.3,500 for 12 hours but you will only need to spend less than Rs.2,000. If there is more than one model, then obviously, you can share the cost. I have seen some posts here where photographers have offered to shoot for free. I have no idea how they manage to do it with a proper studio! Or, is it understood that the studio and make up artist charge has to be borne by the model?

Please note, the cost is only for the studio, and not for me. If you can get a studio for free, I am more than willing to come there and shoot

I will also suggest a professional make up artist for best results - if required I can have that arranged too.

To Priya and others looking for a protfolio....

Wondering if you will be still interesting in some outdoor shoots to build the portfolio. I want to experiment with sunlight and strobe. I have the gear, but no model , Since this is experiment, it could be a flop too, so be warned !
