If someone sends details of a project to me on my PM, asking for my folio and profile, and i reply with the profile and pics, showing my interest in the project. Later, i find out that the project mentioned was fake and that person is misusing my pics, what steps can i take against him.

Surabhi, first of all thanks for coming forward and taking a bold step to even ask this. Most of the people just live with it.

The best thing is to be safe than sorry. You should not disclose your contact details or send pics to person whom you do not know so easily. You should ask few questions to judge their authenticity before sending pics etc.

Now since you have already sent the pics and if you have enough evidence that this person is misusing your pics, then you can approach the police and register a complaint against him.

Also you must post about this person and the evidence that he is fake so that we can ban him on NIMs.

Well if you have the proof of some of the agency /person you can file a police complaint or approach a lawyer to file a suit against the people who have misused your snaps and also ask for compensation:) for the mental trauma you had to undergo ..

Just find some good criminal lawyer and you can make some money out of this ..

But on the serious side please do go ahead and file a written complaint in the station or file a suit in the court ..
You can restrain him from using your pics
you can ask for compensation for using your pics without your approval
and depending on the misuse you can actually put the guy behind bar or make him pay a huge fine
