Truly Rekha knows the value of life no wonder she cherishes each moment of it,refusing to take anything for granted. For someone who has had to claw and fight her way every inch to the top, she knows that achieving the most difficult task isn't impossible but retaining it is virtually next to impossible.

Rekha has never minced words when it came to speaking her heart out and the way she has felt about living life on her own terms but time and again she has been mocked because most of what she said went over the head of most so called intellectuals who resided in ivory towers. On the other hand Rekha has not existed for 5 centuries just breathing but fighting and living life so that she could emerge inspite of the odds and emerge a true blue winner.

In her career spanning over 35 years and still refusing to change gears,Rekha has amply reason to be proud of her lofty achievements in her profession even if her personal life has only given her pain in large measures. Nothing has come easy for this ugly duckling who stunned one and all with her transformation that was almost a new rebirth. If you have seen the Rekha of Saawan Bhadon or Rampur Ka Lakshman metamorphis into the new Rekha of Silsila, Faasle or Mr Natwarlal you'd know what I talk about.

Only if Rekha could come out of her self insulated cocoon and let down her emotion defences so that the warmth of her golden laughter could become her trademark all over again.But alas that is something that would fall into the category of wishful thinking because now Rekha refuses to allow anybody to hurt her.For too long now she has wept in public now her tears and sorrows are reserved for her bedroom pillow alone.

If only Rekha could consent to dip her pen in the ink of honesty and write her autobiography-as it happened chapter to chapter word for word then she just might be able to exorcise her ghosts that haunt her and emerge as a new and less vunerable person who has shed her emotional baggage and travels light as she steps into the senior citizen category.On this birthday-I for one pray from the bottom of my heart that Madam Rekha gets peace,calm and serenity and the storms of a turbulent past subside-allowing her to step into a new phase of her personal life. is that asking for too much really?
