Horror films have always turned me on and I wait for horror films to be released in theaters. The irony is, most of the horror films that are not rated hardly get release dates at theaters. I am a fan of films like Hostel and the Saw series and I expect Frontier(s) to be no [...]
Suniel Shetty is not only a good actor but also a good human being and a devoted family man. When Vipula Kadri was in hospital during her last days, Suniel was in Amby Valley shooting for his TV Show “The Biggest Loser’, but he managed to visit her everyday covering the distance from Amby Valley to Mumbai. No wonder, his wife dotes on him.
Traveling is something that I cannot get over, because I am quite a travel guy. A few of my recent trips I have been associated with Advantage and the rent a car facility that they have provided me. An online place which gives you facilities and options for renting a car. The website is easy [...]
Mona and Pali, the sister duo from Bengal, have placed Kolkata on the national map, with their passion for designing. Though they initially went into different professions, they soon gave in to their inner desire, a natural aesthetic urge, and opted out of their respective careers to pursue their dream with total dedication and determination. They started from home in 1985 at the request of their friends, who had persuaded them to design their clothes, which they executed competently and successfully.
In 1987, they flagged off their boutique ‘Monapali’ in Kolkata making their dream a reality. They moved on to become stalwarts of the Indian Fashion industry, retailing through their outlets in New Delhi (Hauz Khas Village), Ahmedabad and other prominent stores all over India.
Their clothes range from casuals to heavy formals, and are an eclectic mix of design elements- most of which are inspirations from the ethnic cultural roots of India. An unconventional mix of mediums makes the designs distinctly Monapali - be it in textures, textiles, print or embroidery. They revived Kantha, Folk (Madhubani, Warli, Patta Chitrai) tribal motifs and the Alpana from the realms of obscurity and elevated it to the status of haute couture culture. For them each collection is a challenge, and they work with whatever has triggered, intrigued and excited their creativity.
MONA-PALI represented India in China in the ‘Festival of India’ in 1994 and the Bridal summit- Asia Pacific in 1999, in New Delhi. Quiet, reticent and self-effacing, they are considered by fashion pundits as the ‘Silent Contributors’ to the revival of simplicity on the catwalk.

I feel window blinds are very essential part of decoration. Firstly they shield the light and the sun acting to keep your room cool during the summer thus lessening the need for expensive air conditioning. That also makes them environmentally friendly as well. They shield your windows against the tougher elements and also provide a [...]
Old is truly gold, it seems. And nobody seems to better at following this adage than our Indian fashion industry. We are all set with a 70’s comeback. Maybe it’s the influence of Om Shanti Om, or maybe it’s just that true style never dies- think what you may, but it’s hard to deny that the 70’s are back in your face.
Take a walk down the street, and what do you see? You’ll see atleast one man wearing trousers slightly flared near the ankle (called bellbottoms in their day), and atleast a few girls wearing decorative scarves, jazzy earrings, with a wave in their hair.
Meghna Dutta, studying Fashion Design at Symbiosis Institute in Pune welcomes the change. She says, “True style never goes out of style, it’s a rather bad joke, but it’s true! The 70’s are back in a big way.”
Even shops are cashing in on the 70’s frenzy, selling snazzy earrings, thick framed glasses, big bangles, and clothes outlets are not far behind. With polka dots, leggings, bellbottoms, drainpipe trousers, and A-line dresses back in fashion- one simply cannot go wrong. Even the beaded look has made a comeback, beads being a must-be part of any girl’s wardrobe nowadays.
Ashish has just bought himself a pair of bellbottoms, and is quite pleased. He says, “I know it’s outlandish, but hey- it’s the 70’s look, and I want to be in with it!”
So many girls envied Deepika Padukone’s look in Om Shanti Om, and so many men wished they could look like Om, played by Shahrukh Khan. Well, now that the 70’s are back, go retro and be part of the movement!![]()
